Logging in and getting started
Getting started with the Silverfish IDP Dashboard is designed to be simple:
- Open the Dashboard and sign in with your GitHub account.
- Grant access to the Dashboard to identify your user and create your initial workspace.
- Install the required GitHub app to automatically create your first organization.
- Select which repositories should be scanned.
- Wait for the first scan to complete, then review the discovered components and dependencies.
What is created for you automatically?
When a new user signs in, the Dashboard creates a default workspace for that user. This gives you somewhere to organise
your organizations, configure hierarchy naming schemes, and manage billing if paid features are enabled (coming later
this year).
You'll then be prompted to install one of the two GitHub apps to grant further access to your repos. This will create
your first organization, which is where your repos and components can be found.
What should I do first?
Your first useful tasks are usually:
- confirm your profile details,
- connect the right GitHub app,
- rename your default workspace if needed,
- verify that the expected organization and its repos are visible,
- and rename your organization if needed.
